![]() The FFIEC has announced the issuance by the CFPB of the 2015 Informational Guide Letter for HMDA reporters. Filers should use the 2013 edition of A Guide to HMDA Reporting: Getting it Right, together with the 2014 and 2015 Informational Guide Letters, for guidance on collection and reporting of calendar year 2015 HMDA data that will be submitted by March 1, 2016.
![]() Each year the Des Moines Register compiles a list of their Top 100 Workplaces in Iowa. A survey of 22 questions determines who is designated, and several CBI Member community banks made the list in 2014. The FAQs cover what the law means for community banks, which community banks will be directly affected, benefits for holding companies, and how the law was enacted. ![]() Community bankers should ensure their processors are aware of the “Poodle” hack and to take steps to block the cyber-attack. Banks and other institutions are susceptible to the attack, which can intercept sensitive data used by website visitors. The name of the hack is an acronym for Padding Oracle On Downgraded Legacy Encryption. The good news for banks is that Poodle attacks are fairly easy to block. The first step for a company is to check its websites to see if they're vulnerable. There are a several free scanners that check for the presence of flawed encryption that allows it, such as https://www.poodletest.com. ![]() Megan Hollinger has announced her resignation as Membership Development Director for Community Bankers of Iowa, effective January 1. Megan has spent five productive years meeting with community bankers around Iowa on behalf of CBI and the community banking model. In that time Megan has recruited many new members to CBI, strengthening the only state association that exclusively represents and defends community banking in Iowa. She has also been instrumental in facilitating and developing CBI’s Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) program, created by CBI to enhance the growth, leadership, and networking skills of future banking leaders. Megan’s efforts have made great successes of LOT group activities like the Annual Leadership Development Conference and the LOT Scholarship program.
